Gilroy’s six new lighted pickleball courts open Nov. 10

Gilroy will open six new lighted pickleball courts at Las Animas Veterans Park with a ribbon-cutting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, according to the city.

The City Council unanimously approved funding for the project on June 15. Along with the courts, the work reconfigures the large-dog area of the park’s dog park, adds trees and builds new accessible paths connecting the courts and dog park to the parking lot. The courts also have separation fencing and covered cabana benches.

The city says the contractor is finishing work ahead of the opening. A live construction camera on the city’s project page, cityofgilroy.org/Pickleball, updates once an hour.

The city did not say what the project cost. Questions can go to Gilroy Public Works’ engineering division at 408-846-0223.
